Murat Tepeli has briefly excused himself from the operating table to grace us with this beautiful new 12″ on Stuttgart’s Philpot imprint. Surgeon by day and house ambassador by night, this 12″ sees Murat’s first solo expedition since his 2005 Release On a Ride. In between solo efforts, Tepeli has been producing collaboratively with Achim Brandenburg [Prosumer]. Together, the duo contributed the first full length album to Berghain/Panorama Bar’s label, Ostgut Ton Records.

In The Mood For… calls up influence to classic American Detroit/Techno sounds, but manages to remain unchained to the tropes that are often attached. Tepeli transmits these influences with an approach that reads as both intelectual and physical— evoking fond memories rather than boring re-runs. Moody, lush, warm and deep… “Mastika” is the tune on display. However, I can recommend fully giving all tracks off of this release a close and keen listen. Each offer something totally different and exciting, which makes for a great and diverse record from Dr. Murat Tepeli.
