Mays instalment of Easy Listening is here, no theme this time around, just a heaping spoonful of disco, boogie, and golden era Chicago house/techno from some of the finer selectors on planet Earth.
It’s My House (Part 1 and 2)
Starting this months instalment of Easy Listening with two fantastic extended sessions comprised solely of Canadian disco by way of Toronto’s Invisible City crew. Be on the look out for their reissue of Michael Boothman’s island rendition of Bobby Caldwell’s classic What You Won’t Do For Love slated to drop on their Invisible City Edition’s imprint later this month, check the previews here.
Gemini – Deep In The Flowers
Spencer Kincy AKA Gemini delivering what was surely an absolutely devastating set in Dallas, Texas in 1996. Nearly 3 hours of diverse, unrelenting dance tracks delivered in fine style, this session has been wildly inspirational to me over the years, Kincy’s DJ style is unmatched. Chicago 5 Magazine ran an amazing piece on Kincy a few years back, it’s always a pleasure to revisit the story of one of house musics most mysterious and enigmatic figures.
Andrew Morgan – PPU Gift Mix
A rare DJ mix from DC’s Andrew Morgan, best known for his widely essential and inspirational Peoples Potential Unlimited imprint. I’ve still got basically no idea what half the tracks in this mix are, I can only hope Andrew’s got plans to reissue them in the future though, fingers crossed.
Gold Diggers @ Djoon – Waxist Promo Mix
Paris’ Waxist Selecta has appeared in pretty well every instalment of Easy Listening since its inception a few months ago, and for good reason. The latest offering on his SoundCloud is a fantastic promo mix for an upcoming session at Djoon in Paris. Just listen to it, you’ll be glad you did.
